TENSES ( PAST PERFECT TENSE ) PART - 8

TENSES (COMPLETED WORKS)

SAYING COMPLETED WORKS WITH MAIN VERB 3RD FORM

The completed works which we convey with 3rd form of Main Verbs are related  to the tenses like Past Perfect Tense, Present Perfect Tense, Future Perfect Tense. To show the difference in these three we must use has / have / had before 3rd form of Main Verb.

Had + M.V 3rd form is used in Past Perfect.

Has / have + M.V 3rd form is used in Present Perfect.

Will / shall + have + M.V 3rd form is used in Future Perfect.

But while applying the rule of Object regarding to these three we must use 'been + M.V 3rd form after has / have and had'.

IMPORTANT POINTS:
  • Most of the 3rd form of Main Verbs look like 2nd forms as they are added with the syllable 'ed'.
  • Even-though we can't use them directly without Helping Verbs support like 2nd form.
  • They are always used after possessive forms like has / have / had in Subject based Views. But in the Object based views these 3rd forms are used after 'Be' forms.
  • Generally the Main Verb 3rd form are as follows
            Go - Went - Gone.
            Write - Wrote - Written.
            Play - Played - played.
            Ask - Asked - Asked.

NOTE:  1. However the Main Verb 3rd form is, whether it is formed with 'ed'
or different in spelling and in pronunciation, they are used with the
support of "Possessive forms", then only they can give the sense of
            Completed Works.

           2. This 3rd forms of Main Verbs only are used in both Subject based
Views and in Object based Views.

Now let us Observe the difference between Three Perfect Tenses.

PAST PERFECT TENSE:
The completed works which we did before some particular time (or) before any other actions are related to Past Perfect Tense.  It is highly used to show the Completed Actions what we did at first and what we did later particularly when we convey the two works by joining which were done one after one in the Past. In these two we have to say the 1st Completed one in Past Perfect Tense and the second completed one in Simple Past Tense.

NOTE:  This tense is particularly designed for this purpose only. It is highly seen in story telling and in novels and when we explain Past incidents having connected and related actions.

Examples:

I had started the work by 9 am.
They had closed the shop by 10pm.
Rama had given a party by 10th of this month.
They had invited me by 11am.

Object based: Obj + had + been + M.V 3rd form + ..
