USAGE OF "ING" FORM AS COMPOUND NOUN AND ADJECTIVE







    When we use the 'ing' form of the Main Verb as Noun. It is called 'Gerund'.


Examples:

    Playing cricket
    Writing  notes
    Smoking cigarette
    Helping others
    Eating sweets
    Earning money
    Depending upon others
    Drinking alcohol etc.

    By using this Gerund we can say our hobbies / likes / dislikes / hatreds / easy and difficult things / possible and impossible things / natural things / enjoyments / observations / minds etc.


HOBBIES:

    Singing is my hobby.
    Playing Cricket is his hobby.
    Collecting stamps is their hobby.


LIKES / DISLIKES:

     I like eating sweets.
     I like playing chess.
     I dislike depending upon others.
     I dislike wasting money.




GOOD /  BAD HABITS:

     Smoking is a bad habit.
     Drinking is a bad habit.
     Helping is a good habit.
     Working hard is a good habit.


EASY / DIFFICULT THINGS:

     Saying is easy.
     Doing is difficult.
     Eating is easy but cooking is difficult.
     Writing is easy but speaking is difficult.
     Giving advice is easy but following it is difficult.


POSSIBLE / IMPOSSIBLE THINGS:

     Achieving goal is possible.
     Convincing them is impossible.
     Earning two crores in 5 years is possible.
     Earning two crores in 2 days is impossible.


NATURAL THINGS / COMMON THINGS:

     Facing problems is natural.
     Talking like that is common for everybody.
     Postponing works is natural.
     Telling lies is common.


HATRED:

     I hate telling lies.
     I hate wasting time.
     I hate chatting.
     I hate your smoking.
     I hate their talking rubbish.


MINDS:

     I mind playing foot ball.
     I mind coming alone.
     I don't mind your coming along with me.
     Do you mind helping me?
     Don't you mind talking?


OBSERVATIONS:

     I observed his talking.
     I observed him, talking.
     I observed her playing.
     I observed their begging.
     I observed them, begging.


ENJOYMENTS:

     I enjoy playing chess.
     I enjoy chatting with friends.
     I enjoy helping others.
     I enjoy spending time with children.





SAYING TWO DIFFERENT WORKS IN A SIMPLE MANNER BY USING
"ING' FORM

     By coming, I will meet you.
     By learning English, I got the job.
     By joining here, I am able to speak.
     By giving money to them, I was in troubles.
     By taking wrong decision, I went through many problems.
     By buying a car, I can learn driving.


NOTE:

     Here these expressions show which are done one after one or which are done at the same time.


IMPORTANT POINTS:

     While using "Ing" form as Gerund means Noun. When we say its possessive case as usually we have to use the possessive Pronouns like my , our , his, her, its, their, your etc., but Nouns point of view we use ('s).

     My playing
     His reading
     Their doing job
     Our earning money
     Your drinking
     His smoking
       Rama's playing     My mother's singing.

     Singing songs is easy.
     Singing songs is difficult.
     I like singing songs.
     I dislike your singing songs.
     I enjoy your singing songs.
     I observed your singing.
     Singing songs is common.
     Singing songs is natural.
     I hate singing songs.
     I mind singing songs.
     I don't mind singing songs.
