OTHER USES AND VERSIONS OF 

MODAL AUXILIARIES










     Until now we have come to know how to say each and every view with below 100% guarantee with thirteen Modal Auxiliaries.

     Now we are going to learn the other versions of them. Particularly in these thirteen Modal auxiliaries related to ability, responsibility and habits, we have to learn some more important views and points. They are as follows:


ABILITY




     Until now regarding to ability we came to know how to use 'CAN' and 'COULD' only. Besides these two we have two more words which are useful to say our ability. They are 'able to' and 'capable of'.


ABLE TO:  

     It is used to say our ability in a continuous manner. Generally it says our learning stage or our restarted work, after being at some disabled stage.



IMPORTANT POINTS:

  •  Before this 'able to' we must use 'Be' forms.

  •  By changing 'Be' forms we can use this 'able to' in Present, Past and with Modal Auxiliaries.


NOTE:  
     
     1. Related to ability we should not use Can and Able to (or) Could and Able to (or) Can and Capable of (or) Could and Capable of in a single sentences.

    2. In the negative statements instead of 'not able to' we can use 'unable to' also.


Examples:

              Sub + 'be' forms + able to + M.V. Ist form + .....


PRESENT:

     I am able to speak in English.
     I am not able to (unable to) speak in English.
     Are you able to speak in English?
     Are you not able to speak in English?


PAST:

     She was able to solve her problems.
     She was unable to solve her problems.
     Was she able to solve her problems.
     Was she unable to solve her problems?


WITH MODAL AUXILIARIES:

    She will be able to take decisions.
    She may be able to speak well.
    She should be able to take up responsibilities.
    She must be able to travel.
    She need to be able to fulfill her duties.


INTERROGATIVE QUESTIONS:

     How are you able to speak well?
     What are you able to play?
     Why is he unable to walk?
     Why are you unable to adjust with them?
     How are you able to deal with them?
