OTHER USES AND VERSIONS OF MODAL AUXILIARIES

RESPONSIBILITY OR OBLIGATION

Generally to convey the views related to responsibility until now we have  used SHOULD and MUST and related to necessity we have used 'NEED TO' only in the previous chapters.

Besides them we need to learn one more Verb to say our Responsibility.

That is: has / have / had + to

"Has / have + to" are used to say our Responsibility in a casual way in
  Present Tense.

"Had + to" is used to say our Past Responsibility.

IMPORTANT POINTS:

Even-if we say our responsibility with has / have + to (or) with Should, Must and Need to the inner meaning is same. They say what to do. But according to the situation the guarantee is different. It is as follows:

Casual Responsibility    :  I have to go.
Higher Responsibility    :   I should go.
Highest Responsibility  : I must go.

Necessity                       : I need to go.

NOTE:
 1.  In the above four things even-if you use anything instead of other by
mistake or by forgetting, there will be no problem in the formal spoken
      language.

2.  But while using 'Should' for superiors (or) elders it is like an order or
command to avoid it. In a pleasing manner or respectable manner
avoiding all of them we can use 'be' forms + to also.

Examples:

     You are to attend.
     He is to sign.
     She is to come etc.

Examples on "HAVE TO":

PRESENT:

    You have to attend.
    You don't have to attend.

    Don't you have to attend?

PAST:

    He didn't have to wait.
