KINDS OF PRONOUNS



6. EMPHATIC PRONOUNS:  These are reflexive pronouns which are used to emphasize the Noun or Pronoun.

These are used immediately after the subjects or the object.

 
Ex: I myself came to know that news.
      We ourselves must finish that work.
      You yourself design the project.
      He himself broke his leg.
      She herself admitted the truth.
      They themselves can solve their problems.
      I saw the lion myself. 



7. DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS:  The Pronoun which points the particular persons or things is called Demonstrative Pronouns.

They are: This, That, These, Those, Such etc.

Ex:  This is my duty.
       That is our house.
       These are your responsibilities.
       Those are my mistakes.
        His attitude is such. 


NOTE:  When these are followed by Nouns.... they are called "Demonstrative Adjectives".

Ex:  This book is mine.
       That house is beautiful.
       These flowers are beautiful.
       Those works are in-completed.



8. INDEFINITE PRONOUNS:  They never point out any particular person or 
thing or animal etc.

They are:

     One
     None
     Nobody
     Nothing
     Somebody
     Something
     Anything
     Everybody
     Everything
     Anyone

Ex: Nobody should go there.
      Everything is possible.
      Nothing is achieved. 
      Many were honored.
      Everybody must follow the rules.
      All can do that work.

 
NOTE:   When these are followed by the Nouns, they are called 
           "Indefinite Adjectives".

Ex:  I have many problems.
       All topics should be referred.
       Some animals are cruel.


9. INTERROGATIVE PRONOUNS:  The questioning words like, who, whom, whose, which, what are called "Interrogative Pronouns". They question about the persons and things and places.

Ex: Who is he?
      Which is your pen?
      Whose is this duty?
      Whom do you help?





NOTE: Like the above demonstrative and indefinite pronouns these are also called as "interrogative Adjectives" when these are followed by Nouns.


Ex: What kind of animal it it?
      Whose book is it?
      Which pen do you want?
      Which sport do you like?
